So, What's Changed?

Applying for equipment has become easier. All you'll have to do is fill out a form and make your generic selection so we know what you're looking for! You'll be able to make your selection when we inform you that you're good to come down to the office.


Why the Change?

With the increasing demand for computers and the increase of client groups now eligible to access devices through our program, our previous process is no longer sustainable and it kept clients waiting for multiple weeks to receive a computer. This new process gives our students a little more freedom to find equipment that works best for their needs.

IMPORTANT
Please read information below before proceeding with application.

Eligibility Requirements (Detailed Information):

  • Attending University, College or an Adult Education Centre.
    • You MUST be attending a recognized Univeristy, College or Adult Education Centre. If you are unsure if your school is a recognized institution within Canada, click here to access the Government of Canada's post-secondary search, or the Manitoba Adult Education directory, to see if you're school is listed.
    • If you are a hybrid high school student (i.e. University of Winnipeg Collegiate, PTEC, LRATC, etc.), you must be able to prove that you are taking college or university level classes. If you are unable to prove that you're taking college or univeristy level courses, we will not be able to supply computers to you as we do not supply computers to grade school students directly.
  • Reside in Manitoba
    • You must be actively living in Manitoba to receive a computer from us. We may ask for proof of residency if we suspect misinformation is provided.
  • Actively attending classes, or two weeks away from start date at the time of pick-up.
    • Actively attending classes: meaning you must have regularly scheduled classes OR be able to prove that you're currently taking self-directed course

      OR

    • Two weeks away from your start date: meaning you are close to starting your regularly scheduled classes. We have a lot of students who apply for computers through our program all year round. For fairness, we ask that students either be taking classes at the time of pick-up or close (14 days maximum) to your start date. It is not fair for a student who doesn't start classes for 6 months to receive a computer over a student who needs one while they're actively in classes.

Top Questions Asked

What do I have to bring?

  • Enrollment Letter
  • Student ID with an expiration date on it: it must state expiration month and year. The little sticker with the school year (i.e. 2024 -2025) and the Winnipeg Transit logo on it is not acceptable
  • Transcript that has your current courses on it: can be unofficial or official.
  • Letter on official letter head confirming you're currently attending classes: something provided by the school you're attending on their official letter clearly outlining that you're:
    • An active student
    • Has your name as appears on ID
    • Your student number
    • Any other relevent information
  • Show us your courses in an online portal (i.e. Aurora, Pulse, Nexus, HUB, Learn, etc.): You must show your classes. Just showing your profile will not suffice as most post-secondary insitutions provide access to your school account forever so you can access any parchment requests, receipts, etc.

We do not accept invoices, acceptance letters, study permits, or offer letters as proof of enrollment.

What are your payment options?

We accept the following:

We do not accept credit cards or personal cheques of any kind.

Can I send someone else to pick-up on my behalf?

Yes! You're more than welcome to send someone else on your behalf. Please make sure to send them with everything that we require you to bring and their own photo ID as we will have to ID them.

Is there a warranty on the equipment?

Yes! Our usual one-year warranty still applies to all our equipment. For full information on our terms and warranty, head to our Terms & Warranty page.

Are the computers you provide brand new?

No. Our device are donated to us by government entities, local businesses and individuals. We put them through a renewal (refurbishment) process and make sure the devices are functional before releasing them.

Can you tell me what you have available right now?

We can go over what is currently in the lobby if you contact us. However, we cannot guarantee that it will still be in stock when you come down to our office.

Do I have to return the equipment?

You do not have to return the equipment. All we ask is if you're done with the equipment, it's no longer functioning and outside of the warranty, to bring it back to us so we can either renew it again or recycle it appropriately.

Our office can be a little far away, so if you're not able to bring it back to us, you can take it to any EPRA-MB certified depot for recycling.

Can you hold equipment for me?

No. We run on a first-come first-serve basis.

Is there a refund policy?

We have a no refund policy in place. We offer a one (1) year warranty with all equipment provided that covers any hardware & software we have installed. The only thing this warranty does not cover is consuable items such as batteries, toner, etc.

Can I exchange the equipment after I purchase it?

Due to the nature of equipment received, our policies, and procedures, we do not offer exchanges on equipment.
